What type of Miss do we have in our world ? Miss World ? Miss Universe ? Miss Malaysia ? Missy Elliot ? Anyway cut the crap. Rejoice fellow gamers. There is a new Miss in town !! Enter Miss Video Game.

So what is the "Miss Video Game" is all about ? The title should be enough to explain it. They (the organizers) are seeking a girl to become the role model for the video game industry. Their mission is to assist in the proliferation of females in gaming genres of all types, help raise awareness of the female gaming audience among game publishers and advertisers, and to make the gaming industry take women gamers seriously and also treat them with respect as equals. It also noted that they created the Miss Video Game to showcase the female gaming talent and marketable female gamers to gaming publishers and industry decision-makers as well as the gaming community as a whole.

They are a lot of contestants and only 50 girls make it to the finals. It was determined by an online voting system. 50 girls has already been chosen and out of all of them, I can say that 70% is truly gorgeous and can make the models a run for their money. Here is my top 10 list of the nominees.

"Helene #46, 22, France. A gun-trotting babe that loves Counter-Strike and Tomb Raider"

"Jaana #18, 23, United States. Any ninja chic for sure will get my attention !!"

"Nathalie #27, 19, Switzerland. This is a gamer that you can also bring to parties"

"Nikole #34, 19, United States. No comments, just admire the picture"

"Adi #19, 19, Australia. A nice and pretty looking girl gamer, grrr!"

"Alice #32, 21, United States. She is from the team, Schroet Kommando Girls"

"Anya Savvateeva #2, 21, Russian Federation. An angel in Counter-Strike ?"

"Eli #48, 16, Germany. An innocent sexy girl that are into FPS type games"

"Fleur #12, 22, Netherlands. A stylish girl gamer who likes Battlefield a bit too much!"

"Lauren #1, 19, United States. The one girl who rule them all!!"

So what do you guys think of the contestants for the Miss Video Game ? To see the other contestants, goals, mission statements and press releases, you guys can head on to this website. Lastly, Miss Video Game FTW (For The Win) !!

I have been a gamer since my high school days, during the 56.6 k (the connection speed at that time provided by the infamous TMnet and also Jaring) era. It sux so much back then when you want to play online games especially Counter-Strike, the hottest game at that time. Luckily, some folks realize the potential of online gaming in Malaysia thus created a server for Counter-Strike. I think there were 2 servers at that time, one is from gamesLAH and another one is from TMnet. Fragging online had never been fun before the introduction of those 2 servers. But still, that time, those kids with rich parents obviously owns in these servers because they have the faster ISDN connection (also from the infamous TMnet) compared to the other people’s average 56.6 modem connection. Still, the fun is there and it had made countless kids wake up late for school!

Fast forward, to the present day, not much have changed. Our internet connection improved but hey, it is still at the same state. We got 1mbps (ermm, also from TMnet) broadband and maybe some lucky dudes get 2-4mpbs but compared to the rest of the world, this is a joke. Hey, the speed is quite ok actually even if it’s a bit more expensive than the other countries but it is not as good as it looks like. The connection is not stable and it jerks once in a while but the most important thing, connection with the outside world, plain sux. Recently, its more noticeable with more and more online games available to us, Malaysians. A game like World of Warcraft does not benefit us that much. We can only dream for our own servers just like the Aussies.

Nowadays, gaming is not just for the kids who want to waste their time, adults who wish to have fun or release their stress, or the oldies that dun have anything else to do except punching the buttons on the game pad. Gaming has becoming a sport of its own hence the word, cyber sport. It has evolved into a competitive state where people can survive with gaming. They can earn money and keep on living just by playing games. But does this option available in Malaysia? Sadly no. People still playing games for fun here in Malaysia.

But a lot of things have changed in Malaysia. There is some competitive scene here and there. With the World Cyber Gaming involvement and some major/minor tournaments held around Malaysia, there seem to be some hope for us, Malaysian gamers. If only more big companies support the gaming scene then it will truly become true, a competitive gaming scene in Malaysia! Malaysia have produce some big names in games like Counter-Strike and Warcraft (Dota All-Stars and melee) but when they have the chance to compete against another country, they don’t seem to perform well. It all leads back to the starting point, INTERNET CONNECTION!!

"Fnatic, a competitive counter-strike clan"

Why does the connection play a big role in competitive gaming besides sponsors from big companies? To become good in anything, you need experience and exposure. Does this ring a bell? Duh, to compete in major tournaments that involve other countries beside Malaysia, the competitors must know how other peoples play the game like example, whats their tactics and strategies or how do they manage their team and their teamwork in the game. We can learn a lot if only we have the same fair of opportunity like them. For starters, a fast and stable connection will enable Malaysian gamers to have friendly matches with the other countries and thus gain experience from them.

"Spawn from the famed counter-strike team, Schroet Kommando (SK)"

Gaming for a living (competitive gaming) in Malaysia will only become true if some (best if all) of the things I listed below happen in Malaysia.

- A fast and stable connection for the gamers so that they are able to have friendly matches, join online tourneys, actively training in a competitive state like the other countries for example, Korea and Sweden.

- Major companies like Intel, Amd or Dell sponsor teams in Malaysia. This will motivate them and they can concentrate more on gaming because their living depends on it.

- Government support of the gaming scene. Not just the major tournaments that will benefit them in term of money, but also the small tournaments.

- Bury the ‘gaming is bad for kids’ thinking.

- More tournaments held, be it by online or offline. A league will definitely bring in more interest from the community.

- A lot of coverage on the gaming scene especially on the television and newspaper.

There are also a lot of other facts to be taken account but for starters, this is enough for our lovely Malaysia.

Today, there is rare thing happened here in Cyberia Condominium, Cyberjaya. It is located near the Multimedia University. The thing started when me, MTH, and Din were walking to MTH's car that was parked outside of the condo. While we were at it, we saw a police patrol car and a fire truck.

Most of the people there are looking towards the sky. I was wondering why ? Maybe there is unit that has caught fire or something. When we look up, what we saw up there made us lost our appetite to eat.

We tried to calm down first. So we continue to walk, and as I past the guard post, I look back at the girl for a clearer view.

From this angle, you guys might think that the unit is on the 3rd of 4th floor. Let me show you how high the place is.

Some foreigners were also there to witness this 'suicide attempt'

You can see here that the girl is not fooling around. She was in a hysteria state.

After that we canceled our trip to Alamanda, Putrajaya and decided to have a quick lunch at the nearby food stalls @ bus station, Street Mall. When we got back, another fire truck arrived.

A lot of people has gathered to watch this thing and it turns out that the policemen and the firemen has managed to safe the girl.

The police patrol car is parked near the entrance of the building, C1, to transport the girl to somewhere else probably to a counseling place to calm her down.

This is the view from below.

They managed to wrap the girl around with some sort of cloth and carried her into the police patrol car.

After that, they drove away with the girl.

Updates
It seems that the policemen and firemen managed to 'backdoor' her room and catch her before anything happen. Anyway, from my point of view, I dont think she will do it because I know she still have some sanity. Respect to the people involved on saving her life.

I wish all the best for the girl and her future. Rest assured, what comes around, goes around.

Have you guys watched the famed tv series 'Heroes' ? Do you guys know that one of the songs in their soundtrack is from Nidji (a band from indonesia that are making airwaves now). The song is called Heaven. Currently, there is no official video but there is one video made by a 'peminat' (fan). That particular fan really likes the japanese tv series called Sh15uya. So the video have some scenes from Sh15buya and the song is Heaven. Its so awesome. I am posting the video here for you all to see and also the lyrics to it. Enjoy !

Nidji - Heaven

Don’t beg
Don’t cry to your children
Don’t even cry
To your papa
Don’t try
To beg to your people
Don’t even cry
To your mama

Chorus
‘Cause Heaven is too far
Away tonight
Heaven is too far
Away.. tonight

Don’t laugh
Don’t scream to your children
Don’t even cry to your sister..
Don’t talk
Don’t play with the children
‘Cause you ain’t gonna get my heart

No time for playing games !!

written by Antabax | 7:18:00 PM | | 10 comments »

Lately I have no time to play computer games especially dota. I am at the office everyday from 8:30 AM till 6:30 PM. When I reached home, I feel so tired. The only thing that keeps me up is my daily routine that is checking my emails, read news online, Friendster, Myspace, Lowyat forum bla bla bla. By the time I'm done with it, its already 11-12 PM and I need to sleep so I can wake up early the next day. Why didn't I play dota first and spend less time on my daily routine ? My brain cant handle the sheer pressure of dota and if I did play, I will just feed (give the opponents free kill(s)). Oh shucks ! I really miss playing games especially DOTA !! Its close to 3 weeks now. This weekend maybe I can resume my normal gaming activity and then, back to work like usual. I kinda miss a student's life. You can play games everyday, anytime and until your brain explode. I hope next week, I will have less work so that I can spend some time at night to play games atleast for 1-2 hours. Nothing beats the fun that you get from PWNING some other dude(s) online !! GG.

Terms used:
PWNING = killing
GG = Good Game

Smoking Effects ? Counter em !!

written by Antabax | 4:11:00 AM | | 111 comments »

A fellow blogger, Mun, has wrote about the anti-smoking campaign where he shows some ads about smoking effects including one from Malaysia in his Fitness blog. Here, I want to discuss things you can do to counter those effects from happening to you, fellow smokers. Its hard to quit smoking especially for gamers who play dota. When your character die, you will feel the urge to light a ciggie especially if your spawn time is 50 secs ++. Damn true.

The first ad, 'Smoking is Addictive' shows that the fingers that are holding the cigarette is damaged or burned. This is theoretically not true. Even if you smoke for 10-20 years, your fingers wont become like that. For safety measures, wash your fingers everytime you finish smoking. For example, when youre at your office, when you go out to smoke for awhile, make sure after that you wash your hands. By doing this, your hands will smell nice and your fingers wont turn out to be like the ones in the ad (which is impossible anyway).

The next one, 'Smoking Harms Unborn Babies' is a quite tough one to handle. Basically, when you are pregnant, its obvious that you need to take good care of the life you are carrying. So you need to take extra food so that the one inside can have its share of nutrients also. Anyway, at this stage, keep yourself busy with exercise, shopping, knit some sweaters or something, so that you can minimize your smoking. Just keep in your mind that after the baby is born, you can smoke like usual. Keep it up and you can manage it. In return, the baby will turn out ok and you still can smoke like usual.

'Smoking causes Peripheral Vascular Disease' is actually not that frightening at all. It says that smoking can damage your blood vessels. If you think about it, there are a lot of other things that can damage your blood vessels and rarely that it was caused by smoking. To counter this effect, eat a lot of food that contains a lot of nutrients especially vitamins (vitamin E is a must). This is to make sure the blood circulation in your body is flowing smoothly so that it can prevent any damage to the blood vessels.

The next one, 'Smoking causes Blindness'. I must admit that I've never heard of this before. Wudda ? Even if its true, just eat a lot of food that can help to improve your eyesight especially carrots. Heck, nowadays even if youre blind, you can go do the laser treatment and tadaaaa your eyes will be back to normal. If you damage is according to the notes on the ad, at the back of your eyes, just get an operation and fix it. Problem solved.

The second last one is 'Smoking causes Heart Disease' and the main problem of this one is the infamous 'Heart Attack'. Anyone can get heart attack. If you live a stressful life (always die in games like dota) then you might have a better chance of getting heart attack. By smoking, you can ease you tension and pressure. To counter this, make sure you have a balance life. You need to exercise atleast once in two days. You can either jog or swimming. Basically, exercise that involve your heart. Trust me, if you do get a heart attack, its not by smoking (if you follow my advice and exercise).

The last one is 'Smoking causes Mouth and Throat Cancer'. This is true if you dont take care of your teeth. Brush your teeth atleast twice a day. Three times is better. When you wake up, after your lunch (after lunch and smoke preferably) and just before you sleep. This will clean your teeth and mouth. You must also need to drink a lot of water throughout your day to clean your throat. Do this and your teeth will stay nice and healthy including your throat.

Lastly, if you take a look at the ads, it will sure frighten you atleast when you want to light the cigarette but take a look at the ad from Malaysia (my country) below. I'm sure you will just laugh and smoke away.

Note
This is just a fiction article wrote by the author. The author is not responsible for anything that happen to you if you follow whats written above. Take care and yes, smoking is dangerous to your health. Good game.

What is happening to our world ? Hence, Malaysia itself is becoming more strange and weird. For now, everyone must already know that Kuala Lumpur has been flooded with a lot of casualties reported. Geez, with the new 'SMART' tunnel, things like this still can happen. Recently, a peeping tom has been caught. This peeping tom is a clever and a high tech person. He installed several spy cam in the bathrooms at his double-storey house in Taman Bullion Mewah, Jinjang. For god sake, the man is even married and have two kids. Come on. You don't need all this. I hope he will learn his lesson in jail. His action makes me think twice everytime I want to download some new clips on the internet (I hope you can figure out what I meant). Damn.

Anyway, there is another weird thing I want to share here. This dude on the left just drove his car straight into the swimming pool of a condominium in Puchong Perdana. OMG ! This is so crazy. According to the driver, it was raining heavily and he couldn't see where he was goin. He managed to get out of the taxi as it was sinking. Rain or no rain, it's rare to hear a vehicle that end its journey in a swimming pool. Piece of advice, know your surroundings before you proceed to drive.
