Guys, have you heard about the new airline, Firefly ? (supposed to be Malaysia's First Community Airline). It's parent company is none other than the infamous Malaysian Airlines. The airline is based at Penang and currently it flies to 5 locations in Malaysia, Langkawi, Kota Bahru, Kuantan and Kuala Trengganu. Besides local destinations, the airline also listed Koh Samui and Phuket in their flying schedule.

How easy to book a ticket from Firefly ? It is easy because the tickets can be purchased around the clock, 24/7 from its call center. It can also be bought at MAS's ticketing office in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, KLIA, Kota Bahru, Terengganu, Kuantan and Langkawi. The other alternative is to book/buy the tickets at the official Firefly website. They are offering tickets at rates starting from as low as RM 9, excluding taxes and surcharges. The airplane that they are using are from the type Fokker 50 where it can comfortably seats 50 passengers, with more than enough room for your luggage on board.

So will Firefly be BIG in Malaysia ? The potential is there. With these kind of rates, who wouldnt want to use their service ? It might not takeover Air Asia's share completely but maybe it will attract some customers from Air Asia or maybe more. With the proper planning and management, the airline can smell success probably in few months time. So gamers out there who are on a budget can use this service to travel to the other states for a friendly match ? Clan gathering ? Tournaments ? Gaming Events ? What ever the reason is, it is now affordable to fly and gamers who fly tend to look cooler than average.

the problem with firefly for me is that they only fly out of Penang ... once they move to KL .. I'll check them out.

yeah, people ditch mas for air asia because air asia's chic is better and wear a skirt while mas's chic is still using the traditional baju kurung. eventhough its attractive and can still turn people on, a chic with a skirt is better.

Will it be big? I doubt when Firely Airline provides a below average services and terrible experience to its passagers...

My advice is: Don’t try your luck to take firefly airline if you have very tight timeline.

From my experience, Firefly airline is not so reliable. I missed the last boat to Pulau Redang when Firefly just delay the flight at the 11th hour. On the same day and same time, the flight from Penang to Langkawi was delayed too...

No customer service or support is available in this case…only 2 options:
    (1) cancel your flight and get a refund or (2) reschedule your flight…They just ignore all the hassle, opportunity cost and inconvenience caused by the delay of the flights conveniently…

In view of this unpleasant incident to lose both monetary on additional hotel accommodation and loss of accommodation and vacation time at Pulau Redang, we have filed a complaint and request for compensation as advised by Firefly customer service personnel via email to feedback@fireflyz.com.my. To our surprise and disappointment, it takes 3-4 weeks for Firefly to respond and reject our claim with a simple note “Your request of compensation has been declined” and no feedback to our complaint.

Personally, I view this kind of service as irresponsible and would like to share our experience and suggest those who really stretch on their time for not trying your luck and taking the risk. It is not worth to waste both your valuable time and money this way….

    Dear Fin Freedom Achiever,

Hi. Thanks for update your bad experince in Firefly. I am facing the same experince too in Air Asia. Air Asia worst than this la, i can't tahan their service la...somemore can't take photo somemore , heard that Firefly actually allow customer to take pic of their aircraft and also in cabin. I have been scolded by their crew for taking photo, so rude and NO MANNER at all...ALO, we r customer ok..bloody hell..
